Jhatka Council is a Sikh community organisation based in the UK, committed to representing and advocating for the Sikh practice of Jhatka.

Jhatka is the instantaneous method of slaughter by decapitation, practiced by adherents of the Sikh faith, rooted in the principle of compassion. This stands in direct contrast to more widely practised methods, which often involve the prolonged process of bleeding an animal to death.

Jhatka Council engages in constructive dialogue with government bodies, regulatory authorities, and key stakeholders to ensure that the Sikh perspective on ethical meat practices is understood, respected, and preserved.

Through education, community engagement, and policy discussions, Jhatka Council works to safeguard the rights of Sikhs to practice their faith freely, particularly in matters relating to dietary principles rooted in Sikh philosophy and tradition.
